Pago appointed as new licensee in Romania

The concept of Fix-a-Form® multi-page labels is really very simple. Combine an ordinary self-adhesive label with a folded leaflet or booklet to provide extra space to solve your packaging challenges and simplify inventories.

However, there are many things to consider when deciding to use Fix-a-Form leaflet labels. You may well have a few questions, so to help you in your thought processes we have drawn up the following most commonly asked questions, based on our extensive experience. If you can’t find the information you are looking for here, please contact us.

Application

How can Fix-a-Form labels be applied to our product?

The multi-page labelling system, Fix-a-Form®, is designed to create extra space for product usage instructions or promotional messages. As with standard self-adhesive and pressure sensitive materials, they are supplied on-reel and may therefore be applied by using standard label application equipment. They can equally be applied by hand if required.

We want to use Fix-a-Form but don’t have labelling facilities in-house. Can I hire label applicators?

Most licensees across the network will be able to offer some sort of service for applying your labels- Arca Etichette SpA, The Pago Group, Pyrotec SA. There are many good manufacturers of standard label application equipment that are on offer and many licensees will have members of staff and engineers that are experienced in setting up this sort of job and ensure it runs smoothly. For more details, contact your local Fix-a-Form supplier.

How do I know that the Fix-a-Form label will work on my product, especially if my packaging isn’t a standard shape or size?

We have created Fix-a-Form labels for all product shapes and sizes so we are able to advise what the best format and specification would be for your packaging. Fix-a-Form multi-page labels can be die-cut so you get a shape to reflect your packaging design. Many licensees can produce products as small as 28mm in diameter and they can almost be as big as you need them to be.

How can I visualise Fix-a-Form labels on-pack?

Our trained sales advisors across the network can help you to select the right construction to suit your needs. There are no set sizes, folding patterns or standard shapes you have to be restricted to. Each product is tailored to compliment your host-pack or container. Most licensees will also be able to provide you with plain handmade dummies so that you can see how they will look on-pack. You will also be able to get a feel for how your Fix-a-Form label will work for you.

Are Fix-a-Form leaflet labels suitable for use on chilled or frozen products?

Yes. Special adhesive is used for the base label. We also have re-sealer glue, which has been designed to withstand cold temperatures. Synthetic materials may also be used to cope with such extreme temperatures and ensure the information on the label is protected and legible. Laminates can also be applied to the front cover to ensure that your Fix-a-Form is protected from moisture and spillages.

How are Fix-a-Form labels supplied? Are they in sheets, on rolls or on reels?

Our labels are normally supplied on-reel. There are no limits on how many labels can be on a reel – this will be determined by the size. Generally, the minimum core size is 76mm, so as a rule you can expect the finished reel to be anywhere from 100mm total diameter to 400mm. This will depend on the label applicator also – 300mm or 350mm is generally the standard size. The re-wind direction can be specified when ordering.

Design

Do I need to supply special artwork?

Each licensee will have their own pre-press departments who can supply you with a gridline (blank layout) document in a suitable format once an order has been confirmed. This gridline will show you each page and how they relate to each other. You can then place your artwork into this document and send it back for processing. This will normally be in a press-ready PDF or EPS file. Industry-standard instructions regarding electronic file specification apply.

How many different colours can be printed on the Fix-a-Form label?

Generally, four or six colours can be printed on the base label and six on the leaflet, but more can be achieved if required.

What special features can be added to a Fix-a-Form leaflet label?

There are a whole range of optional extras, including hot foil blocking, varnishes, latex scratch-off panels, Braille, randomised variable winning numbers or combinations spread evenly through the printing process, inserts or removable stickers, fluorescent inks and heat ‘n’ reveal panels.

How do I choose between perforated or re-sealable Fix-a-Form labels?

‘Perforated’ or ‘re-sealable’ refers to different opening options. Perforated Fix-a-Forms are tamper-evident and therefore ideal for certain promotional jobs which contain unique numbering. Resealable Fix-a-Forms tend to be used for repeat reference, such as user or patient instructions or cross-range promotions.

Can Braille be applied to a Fix-a-Form?

Many licensees have technology that will allow you to include Braille on the base label and/ or the front cover of a Fix-a-Form label. This ensures compliance with EU pharmaceutical packaging legislation.

Price

How much does Fix-a-Form label cost?

The price of a Fix-a-Form label depends entirely on the specification and quantity. Because each job is bespoke we can’t provide prices until we understand exactly what it is you want your Fix-a-Form to do for you.

How does this compare to alternative options?

The cost of each label will vary according to the specifications. However, this is often closely comparable to alternative options such as a carton and loose leaflet. The additional functions that the Fix-a-Form label performs can pay dividends. Procuring one single element as opposed to several can be a cost saving in the first instance, whereas costly pack changes can be avoided by included an over-label if running an on-pack promotion.

Is there a minimum order quantity for Fix-a-Form?

This will vary from licensee to licensee. There may well be no minimum order quantity but there are basic costs that are involved in producing a job and this is likely to affect the unit cost. Likewise, there is virtually no upper limit on how many Fix-a-Form labels we can produce.

Lead times

What are the production lead times on Fix-a-Form?

The lead time for producing Fix-a-Form labels varies according to the complexity and volume of the job and will vary from one licensee to another. A general guideline of 10-15 working days can be expected once your artwork has been approved.
