Retailers designing printed labels for new own-brand products should get customers involved, it has been claimed. Planet Retail carried out research for its Private Label Trends 2012 Report and found that people buying items like to provide feedback on their purchases, as well as suggestions on what new lines should look like.

Global Research director Natalie Berg said: “Getting customers to endorse your products not only enlists trust, but crucially, it also ensures high quality standards for private label items.”

This could be done effectively using leaflet labels – opinions and other data from customers may be gathered and collated into reports, for example.
